The Yaramayawho is said to live in fig trees and resemble a frog-man with red skin, a very big head, large mouth, with no teeth, and suckers on the ends of its hands and feet. Instead of hunting for food, it waits for unsuspecting travelers to rest underneath the tree. The creature then drops down and uses its suckers to drain the victims blood and swallows them whole. When it awakens it will regurgitate the victim leaving them shorter than before. The person’s skin will also have a reddish tint to it and have no recollection of the event. The creature will then follow its victim and repeat the process many times until it turns its victim into a Yaramayawho themselves. It is said to be only active during the day and targets living prey.

This modern depiction features the Yaramayawho as a Australian Toad/Man that is waiting on an Australian street light near the Sydney Opera House. Due to the Australian Wild fires it had to relocate to more public areas in order to catch its prey. It has hairy patches, upraised bumps, and a huge vocal sac full of viscous liquid that helps to neutralize and weaken the victim. You can see him below swallowing a victim whole! When you are walking alone at night and the street lights are just flickering on, that is the call of the Yaramayawho. It won't be long before you will start to see shapes and shadows of creatures on top of the street lamps awaiting their next victim.
